The Top 5 2019 Wedding Cake Trends
Each year sees new trends in the wedding cake industry. Couples see inspiration in bridal magazines, celebrity weddings or even in fashion and interiors, which then influences their ideas for their wedding cake. What about the top 5 2019 wedding cake trends?
Modern and contemporary cakes are my speciality and when coming up with a concept for a cake, I combine couple’s ideas with my own ideas. Studying and keeping on top of trends, I also look to other areas for inspiration such as architecture and interior design.

Geometric
Geometric features high on the list for couples looking for a design led wedding cake. With strong lines, shapes and patterns, the possibilities are endless and exciting. This is a Malarkey Cakes signature style.
Terrazzo
A popular floor treatment, this pattern can be customised with different patterns, colours and styles to make it truly unique. The design can contain little or larger geometric style pieces within it but with no uniformity or pattern.
Marble
Marble is still popular for weddings cakes, in many different colours and styles. I have been experimenting with water marbling recently and then changing the colours around to get it just right for wedding colour schemes.
Concrete/unfinished
The concrete or peeling paint look may sound a curious decision for a wedding cake but the reality is that it works very well. It’s almost modern with a rustic effect, working excellently on wedding cakes.
Prints
Whether it’s fabric style prints or prints of skylines, there’s no escaping from the fact that prints work very well on a cake. In fact, because of the endless selection that you could have, it makes for a very popular style choice.

Can’t make your mind up? You have 2 or more tiers to play with so why not choose several different styles to complement each other?
