This edition of my supplier love blog series introduces you to Keenda, an adventure-loving boutique wedding and event planner specialising in small-scale weddings and elopements both in the UK and beyond. Living and working in London, Keenda’s love of food and passion for travel are what inspire her and help her relate to her couples.
Keenda tells us more about her love of dancing and London life, her journey to starting her own business and why you shouldn’t sweat the small stuff for your wedding day and instead relax, enjoy and truly make the most of this special time in your life.
Tell me about you! What’s your background, an unusual fact about you & your journey into the wedding industry
I graduated with a BA(Hons) in Cultural and Media studies and went on to work at BBC London and Disruptive Films Elements before entering the world of events for the last 13 years. I have a background in education and not for profit organisations, having worked at several Royal colleges as well as overseeing events for private clients across the UK including hosting club nights at Mango Lounge Cocktail bar and I have even organised an Oxjam gig as a charity event.
Most wedding suppliers say that they started their business because of planning their own wedding, but my catalyst moment came after I broke up with my boyfriend of 14years! I haven’t found the right man yet but being a wedding planner restores my faith in love through my couples’ happiness! 💍 😍
I started off as a wedding intern in Canada in 2012 and was thrown in the deep end when the head planner twisted her ankle and gave me the clip board to takeover! I loved it and when I moved back to the UK decided that was my calling and started my own wedding and event business.
You can find Events by Keenda featured in Mrs P&P, BLOVED, Coco Wedding Venues, Magpie wedding, Bridal Musings, Bespoke bride wedding blogs and in Your London Wedding Magazine. I have also shared my expert tips as a guest blogger for Cutting Edge Brides, Wed Inspire and in Blushing Brides box. My wedding planning business has also had a spotlight feature on Planning Redefined, whom I trained with.

What do you love about your job? What job title would you give yourself?
I love meeting new couples from around the world and sharing our love of food, travel, music, dance, and being surrounded by our loved ones. Being a wedding planner allows me to use my innate organisation skills and creativity to create something magical for couples beyond what their imagination knew was possible.
As a wanderlust I also love travelling, so getting to do destination weddings is a dream come true, combining both my passions of being a jet setter and wedding planner.
I consider myself a Boutique wedding and event planner and stylist with the concept of creating weddings that are unique and authentic to the couple with guests leaving saying that was so them.
What inspired you to create Events by Keenda?
“DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND LOVE WHAT YOU DO!” is exactly why I’m in this business for the sheer love of weddings and the ability to visualise ideas into reality.

What’s different about the service you provide to others?
More joy, less overwhelm is what I offer clients and the ability to visualise their dream wedding into a reality. I create design-led intimate weddings for creatives worldwide where ordinary isn’t an option.
I invent ideas before the couples even know they want it and they are like this is so us! I make the wedding planning journey fun, filtering out all the stressful bits and sharing all the good parts with my couples.
End result is a seamless, stress free epic wedding with all the feels. I don’t just have a style but a vibe for those who want that romantic intimate celebration with their closest friends and family with a hint of luxury!
The Passion 💜
I love creating these weddings that are bespoke to the couple so that their memories of their big day reflects their personalities! I don’t want them wishing they did it differently when they can get it right the first time by doing it their way and not following traditional conventions for the sake of it!
What is your favourite part of the job & why?
For me it’s more than just the couples, it’s about the full guest experience and seeing the smiles and laughter of the whole room that makes me all fuzzy inside! I want to know that EVERYONE has had an amazing time at the wedding and created memories to cherish forever.
Not through meaningless lavish spending for show but through really caring how the day makes people feeling splurging on those who you love the most!
What’s the biggest bit of advice would you give to couples when planning their wedding?
Enjoy it come rain or shine and ignore everything else out of your control and choose happiness knowing that this is the start of your married life together. Leave the stressing to your planner and soak in all the love and romance from your engagement right to your honeymoon an beyond.
Current advice with everyone’s wedding plans changing right now, this the perfect time to re-imagine your perfect wedding. Since so many celebrations are being rescheduled due to COVID-19, now is an ideal time to re-evaluate the size and scope of your wedding, and to potentially opt for something a little more intimate.

What’s your favourite food (if you can choose)?
Mexican and Vietnamese, the complete opposite I know but such good flavours! I am addicted to nachos and guacamole and love the Banh Xeo pancake.
What is your favourite cake flavour?
I do love a black forest gateau.
What do you do when you’re not working?
What don’t I do is the question!
As a Londoner, I love nothing more than to explore what the city has to offer trying all kind of things at least once. I am a self-confessed foodie so you will find me eating out a lot. I love a bottomless brunch, a good afternoon tea and gin o’clock and am definitely no stranger to karaoke.
My hobbies include ballroom dancing, argentine tango, acroyoga and rock climbing every now and then. I am very active and all about creating the life you love.

What’s your most memorable adventure? Tell me all about it!
Travelling through South America from Bolivia visiting the Salt Flats to Peru; completing the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and ending it in Ecuador Montañita beach taking in surfers heaven.
The Salt Flats was like something out of Planet of the Apes. The landscape is so surreal and beautiful and of course we took some funny perspective pictures as everyone does there.
The Inca trail experience is such a test of your endurance to trek all day and camp with no amenities to shower for 4 days! The views were stunning and reaching the top is a pretty epic feeling and so was the mud bath spa we went to after on our last day.
Beach life in Montañita was fun especially with yoga on the beach and salsa nights and awesome food. Although I got pretty sick from the ceviche I ate and ended up in hospital when I got back to the UK!
