10 must-have modern wedding cake stands

Jul 21, 2020

If you’re going for a modern wedding cake, then you’ll need the cake stand to perfectly complement it.

For sturdiness, bigger cakes will need something more substantial and flat-bottomed than some of these stands, but for prettiness for a cake on the smaller side, pedestal stands are the ones.

Many a venue will provide a wedding cake stand as part of their package. But be warned, these stands can end up being far too big, too traditional looking for most modern cakes and believe me, I’ve been asked to set up on cake stands that were broken, damaged and far from flat and straight!

Make sure the option of having the perfect modern wedding cake stand to echo the style of your wedding cake isn’t something you overlook. Start right here with these beauties.

FYI, if you’re going to source your own wedding cake stand, also make sure you check it’s something that will work with the size, height and weight of your cake before you go ahead…

These low-key white melamine stands are an understated way of showing off an extravaganza of a wedding cake without taking away from the cake’s design. They’ll give your tiered cake a lift to give it more height and make it look more elegant raised off the table. Both the square and the round designs come in 12 inch (30cm) diameters and are perfect for both small and large cakes without too much height. You could also paint them yourself in a metallic paint or colour to perfectly suit your cake design. See more here.

About the writer and cake enthusiast…

Hi! I’m Katie and I have been fully cake obsessed since, forever…

Malarkey Cakes is built on a mixture of all my passions. My work is inspired by my background in art and design and I’m honoured to make wedding cakes for couples in love in London and the South East.

I’m passionate about blogging to share my knowledge and give guidance on the ins and out of ordering a wedding cake, making the most of it and making sure it gets the attention it deserves. I also share my tips on wedding planning and team up with fellow suppliers I am lucky enough to work with and who I highly recommend.

When I’m not designing, making or eating cake, you’ll find me trying out new food in London’s amazing restaurants, drinking great coffee, taking in stunning architecture, on long walks, smashing a decent weights workout or exploring the world.
